About the Position
We are looking for an experienced Class 1 skilled Fabricator / Plater.
The Fabricator/ Plater will be responsible for performing a variety of fabricating and welding activities to support the manufacturing facility using Carbon, Stainless Steels & High Nickel Alloys. We will require you to have a strong understanding of processes and materials to fulfil delivery of Flare Tips, Power Burner, Process Burners, Skids and Pressure Vessel fabrications. Your ability to interpret engineering drawings to determine materials and cutting lists as well as planning task sequences will be crucial. Key to this role will be your ability to determine priorities to ensure continuous workflow between disciplines ultimately achieving target dates and on time delivery.
As Fabricator / Plater, you will carry out and tack up fabrications accurately, safely and to consistent levels of finish to the set quality standards as determined by contract specifications.
The Fabricator/ Plater will be required to understand the Quality Assurance system for materials entry, follow welding procedures fabrication drawings and will have had experience with producing products compliant within a Quality System (ISO9001:2015).
Roles and Responsibilities
* Interpret isometric and engineering drawings to fabricate parts.
* Fabricate parts accurately from detailed drawings.
* Understand both imperial and metric dimensions.
* Prepare parts for welding, including sawing, drilling, grinding, pipe bending, and threading.
* Perform or prepare for Class 1 / ISO 3834 welding activities, including understanding and interpreting Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Weld joints (fillet, lap, corner, and butt, open and double-sided) in compliance with ASME IX and ISO 15614 standards.
What We're Looking For:
* Fabricating Expertise: Proven experience in fabricating within sectors such as Oil & Gas, Pipefitting, Pressure Vessel, or similar environments.
* Engineering Drawings Proficiency: Strong capability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Educational Background: GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science (Grades A-C).
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and management.
* Team Orientation: Reliable team player with a solid track record of punctuality and excellent attendance.
* Organisational Skills: Highly organized, efficient, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
* Confidence and Initiative: Assertive with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
* Attention to Detail: Meticulous and conscientious, focused on maintaining high-quality standards.
* Licensing Requirements: Valid Driving License is essential; Forklift License is a plus.
Success Criteria:
* Welding Certification: Class 1 Skilled Fabricator/Welder, capable of passing a Class 1 TIG fillet weld test.
* Industry-Specific Experience: Hands-on experience with pressure vessels and pipework within the petrochemical industry.
* Work Area Maintenance: Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area and ensuring tools are put away properly at the end of each shift.
* Job Flexibility: Ability to manage multiple tasks and jobs during a shift as required.
* Location: Must reside within a 1-hour commute of the office or be willing to relocate locally.
* Driving Capability: Reliable transportation and the ability to drive to the site are essential.
* Machine Maintenance: Ensure all machines are checked daily and relevant check sheets are completed.
