We are looking for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy Team at Langdon Hospital.
As an Occupational Therapist at Langdon Hospital, you will play a key role in supporting our patients' recovery through occupationally-focused assessments, interventions, and outcomes that are needs-led and evidence-based. This band 5 role covers the Langdon Hospital site, providing you with an opportunity to work within our medium and low secure services.
You will also have opportunities to develop a wide range of clinical skills as well as supervising support staff and students. You will be encouraged to contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives as well as participating in learning and professional development.
Main duties of the job
We provide forensic mental health services for the South West region and have an excellent reputation. It's an exciting time to join us as we have ambitious plans to expand and develop our existing services.
We support people who, as a consequence of their mental health needs, have had contact with the criminal justice system and require a safe and secure environment that enables them to receive a wide range of treatments, therapies, and care to support their recovery.
The successful applicant will possess a degree in Occupational Therapy or a Diploma from RCOT. Newly qualified Occupational Therapists are welcome to apply (we have an established preceptorship programme that will support your learning and development post-qualifying).
A positive and open attitude to multidisciplinary working is vital as is a strong patient focus and a desire to provide excellent support to people who use our services.

Langdon Hospital is a campus-style site set within 111 acres of beautiful countryside accompanied by views of the sea providing a calming and therapeutic environment. The site includes a £27 million state-of-the-art medium secure wards and a low secure ward.

Experience
* Application of the OT Process
* Use of standardised / functional assessment and activity analysis
* Prior Mental Health or Learning Disability experience
* Previous Band 5 post
* Forensic placement or work experience
Knowledge & Skills
* Clear understanding of core OT skills
* Awareness of the implications of long-term institutional care
* Understanding of team dynamics
* Basic knowledge of health legislation and current practice including CPA and risk assessment management
* Awareness of legal restraints impacting on the rehabilitation of mentally disordered offenders
Qualifications
