An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, dynamic and innovative senior nurse to join our Matron team within the Medical Division.
We are looking for an experienced senior nurse leader who is passionate about delivering safe, effective clinical care to patients whilst ensuring our workforce are professionally led to feel highly motivated and empowered.
The post holder will require the knowledge, skill and attention to detail to deliver real improvements in quality: working closely with the speciality and divisional team to ensure patient care is delivered safely across departments.
Additional working pattern details: Choice to work a 9 day fortnight.
The proposed interview date is 6th December.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide clear clinical leadership for nursing and take responsibility and accountability for specific clinical services, wards and departments within the Medical Division and wider Trust.
2. Work in partnership and collaboration with other Matrons and General Managers within the division, leading on clinical governance and risk agendas, ensuring dovetailing of strategic and operational roles and responsibilities.
3. To set and maintain professional standards: lead, inspire and co-ordinate by motivation.
4. Be responsible for optimising flow and access through strategies to prevent delays and optimise utilisation.
5. Ensure the delivery of patient care is of the highest standard and that patients and families are treated with dignity and respect, providing support to patients and their relatives / carers.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of professional portfolio and registration revalidation.
* United Kingdom recognised Degree in Nursing.
Experience
* Experience of working in an acute clinical environment.
* Previous experience in a relevant speciality.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
* Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate.
* Acts as a role-model, lead by example to ensure the Trust's values and behaviours are reinforced throughout their area of practice.
* Able to supervise non-registered and less experienced staff to ensure effective service and care delivery.
* Able to effectively and appropriately escalate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety.
* Demonstrates ability to maintain and contribute to the development of standards of practice.
* Demonstrates ability to keep up to date with professional issues that influence nursing practice, management, education and research.
