Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the implementation and subsequent running of a Lower GI Faster Diagnosis Nursing Team at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This team will be instrumental in streamlining the process and improving the patient experience for patients referred into the organisation on an urgent suspected Lower GI cancer pathway. Main duties of the job In partnership with the clinical team the post holder will lead, develop and implement an improved 28 day FDS pathway, delivering high quality clinical care to patients with suspected cancer. This is a new and pivotal role within the Lower GI cancer team to support faster diagnosis and improved outcomes for patients with suspected colorectal cancer. The post holder will deliver a high level of expertise providing advice, education and support to colleagues, patients, their families and carers. With overall managerial responsibility the FDS Nurse Lead will deliver clinical leadership and strategic direction to the new FDS team that will include Clinical Nurse Specialists and administrative support. The role requires an innovative and dynamic individual committed to improving patient experience and improving standards of care and services in line with the Trust's Values and Behaviours. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a high level of communication skills and evidence of influencing and leading change across organisational and professional boundaries. The FDS Nurse Lead will possess expertise in clinical risk evaluation, change management and the provision of educational support leading the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service. This will include the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.
