Main duties of the job Would you like to work in a regional Paediatric Oncology Unit on the South Coast? We are offering an exciting opportunity in our daycare unit for permanent, full, or part-time, band 6 nurses who wish to build on their existing experience, clinical skills and leadership qualities to join our friendly and supportive nursing team at Southampton Children's Hospital. Piam Brown Unit is the Principle Treatment Centre (PCT) for Paediatric Oncology in the South of England. The unit consists of a 12 bedded inpatient ward and adjoining daycare unit within Southampton Children's Hospital. We care for patients who have been diagnosed with cancer who require Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (chemotherapy) from birth up to 16 years old. Our region covers Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, West Sussex, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Wight. We have 12 Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Units (POSCUs) throughout the region. The unit is a MASCC-Designated centre of excellence in Supportive Care in Cancer, one of only 2 centres in the UK. We have a team of 8 Oncology Nurse Specialists based on the unit who support families in our care.
