We are currently seeking a Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate with a passion for sports and education to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students in both academic and physical education settings. The Role: As a Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering high-quality PE and sports lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will work with students both in the classroom and during physical activities, providing tailored support to ensure all students achieve their potential. In addition, you will assist in running extracurricular sports clubs, school teams, and events, helping to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging Physical Education (PE) lessons for students at Key Stage 3 and 4. Support students during practical sports sessions, ensuring they develop skills, teamwork, and confidence in a variety of activities. Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Help organise and run extracurricular sports clubs and after-school activities, promoting physical activity and healthy competition. Assist in managing sports events, school fixtures, and sports days, contributing to the wider school community. Support the development of students' teamwork, leadership, and communication skills through sport. Contribute to the overall positive learning environment in the PE department, ensuring that students remain engaged and motivated. Key Requirements: A degree in Sports Studies, Sports Science, or a related field (or equivalent qualification). A passion for sports, physical education, and supporting students’ development. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Enthusiastic, energetic, and adaptable, with a desire to encourage students to engage in physical activity. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the success of the PE department. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. A desire to pursue a career in education or coaching. Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one. Be able to provide at least two professional employment references. Desirable experience but not essential: Experience working with young people, either in a coaching, teaching, or voluntary capacity. Knowledge of a range of sports and activities, with the ability to lead or assist in coaching sessions. Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and how to support students with additional learning needs.
