Working for Nottingham City Council has great benefits. As well as competitive pay, great leave entitlement, and access to a generous pension scheme, we strive to create an innovative, inclusive, and progressive work culture where everyone is supported to do and be their very best.
In return, we are looking for innovative, driven individuals committed to serving and improving Nottingham. If you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of those who live and work in our city, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
The post holder will be working for Nottingham City Council’s Enviroenergy department as a Senior Service Technician on the Nottingham District Heating Network and National client properties as required. The post holder will undertake high-quality mechanical work, HIU installations, or associated infrastructure works of a specialist nature on a local and national basis. The role predominantly supports our local district heating customer base but may also include works on national domestic properties within our portfolio of clients.
The post holder will service and maintain Heat Interface Units (HIUs), install radiators, perform fault diagnosis and repair on high-pressure heating systems, and be involved in installing our in-house decentralised energy payment metering solution, the EE Monitor. Responsibilities include commissioning and undertaking installation works, fitting routers, installing data logger solutions, or installing heat meters on-site, and any other associated works as required.
The post holder will participate in the prepayment metering upgrade project for 5000 domestic properties in the City and the continual works that are required across the portfolio. The work will involve delivering services to residents with a high-pressure district heating supply, which may include repairing HIU faults, replacing faulty valves, and addressing other issues that may arise as part of a district heating system. Although the post focuses on our Nottingham district heating network customers, the post holder may be required to travel across the UK to complete works as needed, with some overnight stays required for ongoing contracts.
Nottingham City Council Enviroenergy is an innovative forward-thinking team, and the post holder will be heavily involved in the development and delivery of new solutions to the decentralised energy market.
