This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced public affairs, PR and communication specialist to join our fast-paced Communications, Engagement & Marketing department as PR & Public Affairs Manager, here at #TeamYHG. This is a newly scoped role and an exciting opportunity to really make it your own!
Working closely with the senior team and wider communications and marketing team, you will lead on the development and execution of YHG’s PR & stakeholder management strategies, managing our external narrative and reputation, through a variety of channels and tactics. Advising the senior team on all matters relating to PR and public affairs, including stakeholder management, media relations and crisis communications.
You will lead the effective management of key public affairs relationships (local government, police, fire, funders, etc.) and will be an active voice for our tenants, confident and capable to affect real change in our sector and be part of the movement, through your campaigning and lobbying experience.
We’re looking for a highly motivated, creative, and impactful PR and Public Affairs professional that has a genuine appetite for news, reputational management, and strategic storytelling and stakeholder management.
You will be a self-starter with stickler for detail, excel in building and nurturing strong relationships, adept at spinning plates and juggling multiple priorities. And experience in a similar in-house role is essential.
What will my working week look like?
You will be predominantly homebased, living within the Northwest, within a reasonable travelling distance to our HQ in Warrington, which you’ll visit frequently for collaboration, meetings, events, etc., as required. Realistically, you will likely visit this office approximately once a week, sometimes more.
What will I be responsible for doing?
This is a broad role that, as lead for all public relations and public affairs activity will see you balancing your time across, internal and external stakeholder engagement, operational planning, media monitoring, event management, content creation and execution, and reporting.
You will work closely with the senior leadership team to identify and manage key stakeholder relationships to support the delivery of our business plan and be an active voice for change in our sector. One of the great things about this role is the variety of the work, no two days are the same and each provides a real opportunity to make a positive impact for both our business and our residents!
And what would make me stand out from the crowd?
To be a successful as PR & Public Affairs Manager, you will have:
* Knowledge and experience of leading on PR and public affairs in a similar, in-house role.
* A strong communicator, with excellent written skills, a stickler for detail and a ‘know your audience’ approach
* Experience within a similar communications and marketing department
* Degree or equivalent in either Journalism, Media, English, PR or similar
* Full UK driving licence and use of a vehicle

* Able to juggle multiple projects
