A well-established organisation is seeking a Payroll Officer to join their team on a permanent, remote basis. This is a confidential opportunity within a purpose-driven and dynamic environment where payroll plays a critical role in ensuring smooth operations. This position offers comprehensive ownership of the payroll function, managing end-to-end payroll processes while also supporting key areas such as benefits administration, compliance, and system improvements.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Start-to-Finish Payroll Processing
2. Benefits & P11Ds - Overseeing benefits administration, including salary sacrifice schemes and taxable benefits, while preparing annual P11D submissions.
3. Audit & Compliance - Supporting internal and external audits, ensuring payroll processes meet legislative requirements, and driving continuous improvements.
4. System Maintenance & Updates - Ensuring payroll systems remain up to date, troubleshooting technical issues, and working on system enhancements.
5. Collaboration & Support - Acting as a key point of contact for payroll queries, working closely with HR, finance, and external providers to maintain a seamless payroll function.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
1. Strong experience in payroll processing, ideally within a complex or multi-entity environment.
2. Knowledge of benefits administration, including pensions, salary sacrifice, and taxable benefits.
3. A solid understanding of statutory payroll legislation, tax codes, and P11Ds.
4. Experience supporting payroll audits and working to improve payroll controls and processes.
5. Technical aptitude for payroll system maintenance and updates, with the ability to troubleshoot and enhance functionality.
6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently across departments.
