The post offers a Temporary Market Supplement. A maximum of 12 months is available overall, therefore the total length of available market supplement will be confirmed at interview and may be subject to change.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic and capable individual to the role of Lead Officer (Food, Safety and Licensing).
Candidates will need to demonstrate that they have proven experience in the field of Licensing and are able to apply Licensing policy, guidance and legislation on a range of licensing considerations.
The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate qualification and competency, in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice, to deliver official food controls in a wide range of food businesses. We will consider applications from those who have the relevant qualification, but are working towards competency.
You will be able to effectively and efficiently deal with a wide range of matters, including, responding to reactive complaints, inspecting and auditing a wide range of premises, and undertaking formal enforcement action. This will involve making site visits, conducting interviews, and preparing reports, documents and evidence in connection to investigations.
You will be required to prepare and present reports and make appropriate recommendations to the Licensing and Regulatory Committee, and sub-committees as necessary. You will also contribute to licensing policy reviews and lead on consultations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for this role. Experience working with partners and external agencies on environmental health and licensing related matters would be desirable.

For clarification, you will report to the Team Leader (Commercial), who is the lead Food Officer as defined by the Food Law Code of Practice.
