A specialist facade contractor is seeking a proactive and flexible Assistant Estimator to join their growing business, working alongside the company director. Working across a range of sectors on new build and existing buildings, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to progress as an Estimator within the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
1. Understand and scrutinise Project Specifications & Drawings
2. Meeting with clients and consultants
3. Carry out site visits and surveys
4. Measuring and take offs for materials, plant and labour
5. Complete tenders within short timescales, common return period between 1 and 3 weeks
6. Able to tender between 1 and 3 projects at any time period
7. Identify and present tender qualifications and exclusions
8. Produce Value Engineering solutions
9. Obtain, understand and scrutinise subcontractor quotations
10. Maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels within the Company and with all sister companies, as well as externally with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and third parties.
11. Where management of staff is required, the candidate would need to lead, motivate, communicate with, develop, appraise and performance manage staff.
12. Monitoring performance and reporting to the director.
13. Maintain a flexible working approach and assist other teams, such as the sales team, as required
Person Specification:
1. Prior experience in estimating
2. IT skills; competent in Word, & Excel
3. Excellent spoken and written English
