Position: Electrical Site Manager

Company Overview:
Mech Electrics are recruiting for one of the UK's largest engineering and construction companies who specialise in the design, construction, installation and maintenance of various building services and infrastructure projects. They are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Site Manager to oversee a new build substation project on the Shetland Islands.
Project Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the electrical installation works for a new build substation project, including two sheds and a control building. This project entails comprehensive internal and external electrical installations, encompassing lighting, power, and distribution boards, amongst other works.
You will be responsible for overseeing the M&E contractor on-site and ensuring that all electrical works are executed to the highest standards, meeting project specifications and timelines. You will monitor progress and report back to your employer. Initial works are scheduled to complete in the 2nd quarter of 2025 and there is the prospect of future works at the end of these works.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the electrical installation works on-site, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
Coordinate and supervise contractors, ensuring efficient and effective execution of electrical works, including lighting, power, and distribution boards.
Monitor and report on the progress of electrical installations, providing regular updates to the project management team.
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards and project timelines.
Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in the electrical installation process.
Collaborate with other site managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of electrical works with other project components.
Ensure that all electrical works are conducted in accordance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of all electrical works, including progress reports, inspection records, and quality assurance documentation.
Manage project resources effectively, ensuring that all materials and equipment are available and utilized efficiently.
Ensure that health and safety policies are adhered to at all times, promoting a safe working environment for all site personnel.
Testing and commissioning processes.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an Electrical Site Manager within the building services/construction sector, ideally within industrial electrical installation..
Any experience in the construction of substations is advantageous but not essential. Ideally you will have reported into main contractor in previous roles.
Strong knowledge of electrical installation processes, including LV Distribution Systems and Cabling, cable management systems, lighting, fire alarm, security and small power installations.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee and coordinate multiple contractors and tasks simultaneously.
Solid understanding of relevant regulations and industry standards related to electrical installations.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address issues promptly and effectively.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.
Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering or a related field.
Ability to read and manage drawings and being able to update if necessary.
Some knowledge of mechanical systems would be desirable.
Working Conditions:
This is a site-based role, requiring regular presence on the site and working on a 10 days on, 4 off shift pattern.
11 hour days on normal working week, 9 hours on Saturdays, 8 hour day on Sunday.
The position involves overseeing both internal and external electrical installations, which may require working in various weather conditions.
