Waste Services is looking for a Waste Operative Loader. You will be required to work as part of collection teams, collecting recycling boxes, bins, and sorting recyclable materials. Initially working within the box recycling team, but after completing probation, you may be asked to support other collection teams within waste services.
The role will be physically demanding, and most collection work would be outdoors in all weather conditions.
There are no set qualifications to enter this job; previous experience in the waste industry is desirable, yet full training will be provided for the right candidate. It can also be helpful to have some experience with physical fitness, health and safety, and recycling skills.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Collecting recycling scheme boxes and materials
2. Sorting recyclables and checking the right kind of materials have been put out
3. Inspecting materials for any contaminations and issuing rejection tickets
4. Speaking to members of the public about recycling schemes and providing information
5. Ensuring the correct protective equipment is worn at all times
6. Ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards of health and safety
7. You will be required to undertake all aspects of a loader in respect of the recycling collection round, i.e., collection duties from households throughout North Lincolnshire.
8. Periodically and by prior notice, you will be required to attend training and engagement days on your non-working weekday.
9. You will be required to work the occasional Saturday to provide collections in lieu of a bank holiday.
