About the Company:
We are a renewable energy developer committed to working closely with landowners and local communities to expand clean energy generation. With a growing development pipeline of nearly 11GW across 80+ projects, we are seeking a Senior Development Manager to join our team. This role will focus on securing necessary permissions for renewable energy projects, including ground-mounted solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and wind energy.
We are looking for a self-motivated and proactive professional who can communicate effectively and build trusted relationships at all levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in renewable energy and a passion for leading and delivering projects.
Role Overview:
The Senior Development Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of development projects, overseeing the process from initiation to Ready-to-Build (RTB) status. This role requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identifying and acquiring suitable land for development.
* Leading commercial and contract negotiations (including Heads of Terms, Option Agreements, Easements, and Leases).
* Managing project budgets, risks, and schedules.
* Overseeing legal, permitting, and grid connection processes.
* Coordinating with internal Grid and Planning teams.
* Managing site surveys and project design.
* Preparing project reports and keeping stakeholders informed.
* Supporting project sales processes.
* Staying up to date with industry regulations and policies affecting the renewable energy sector.
* Addressing project challenges (technical, political, or planning-related) to ensure RTB is achieved.
Skills & Experience:
* Proven project management experience, with a track record of delivering projects successfully.
* Knowledge of renewable energy development processes.
* Strong negotiation skills, particularly in land acquisition and contracts.
* Understanding of land rights, Land Registry, and land titles.
* Ability to engage with stakeholders and build strong professional relationships.
* Budget management and risk assessment expertise.
* Strong communication and report-writing skills.
* Proficiency in Google Earth and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (preferred but not essential).
* Degree-level education in a relevant field.
* Project management qualifications (PMQ, PRINCE2) are a plus but not required.
* Full UK driving license.
