A local Secondary School in Weymouth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Worker to join the team. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with autism, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning goals. Foster a nurturing and understanding atmosphere where students feel safe and valued, promoting their social and emotional development. Work closely with teachers and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies tailored to each student’s needs. Support effective communication between students, teachers, and parents/guardians, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and involved in the student’s progress. Encourage and empower students to develop their independence and life skills, promoting self-confidence and resilience. Regularly assess and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to progress reports and reviews. Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support assistants to create a cohesive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students. Requirements Experience or training in supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting student development. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues alike. Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the changing needs of students and the school environment. Commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality within an educational setting.
