Our busy Planners in Doncaster are hiring a Short Term Timetable Planner to join their team. You must have previous knowledge of timetabling and train planing to be considered for this role. This position is essential in ensuring that train plans are developed in accordance with GBRf Standards, planning guidelines and code of practice. The role involves daily interactions with Network Rail to support the smooth running of our weekly train plans. Closing date: 3rd March To manage the production of a number of weekly train plans; processing of weekly train orders from various customers and compilation of the optimal train plan to deliver the service that is required. To manage the day-to-day interaction with Network Rail and any other relevant Infrastructure Managers to ensure that the necessary access to the rail network is secured to deliver these weekly train plans To regularly engage with the Short Term Traincrew Planning team to ensure continuity and efficiency with the delivery of weekly train plans. To regularly engage with the Fleet Planning and Engineering teams to deliver weekly train plans with cognisance of the various requirements of these teams. To communicate weekly train plans to all those who require it, both internally and externally to GBRf. Under direction of the Short Term Timetable Manager, provide cross-cover across the team as weekly demand dictates. Where required, to assist, and provide cover for, the Short Term Timetable Manager. Essential Ability to timetable trains over the national network taking into consideration other services, network capability and Timetable Planning Rules. Good working knowledge of national railway geography. Knowledge of train planning systems including TRUST/TOPS/VoyagerPlan/Attune. A general understanding of railway rules and operating methods. Ability to prioritise in order to meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively, and in an appropriate manner, with both internal and external customers and suppliers. Ability to work effectively with others in a team. Awareness of safety considerations in the workplace. Desirable Detailed knowledge of the UK rail freight business. Good knowledge of the UK rail industry as a whole. Knowledge or previous experience of Network Rail’s ITPS software. Knowledge of existing GBRf traincrew depot locations, depot links, route knowledge and traction knowledge. Detailed knowledge of the workings of GBRf and the weekly train plans Ability to react to regular alterations in workload and weekly fluctuations in demand across the business portfolio.
