Position
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Porter/ Security/ Driver based at Ayrshire Central Hospital. This role in particular is for the pharmacy, mail and renal delivery/collection service, which operates between NHS Ayrshire & Arran hospital sites and some other locations.
What you will do:
The general role of the porter/driver is widely varied and consists of duties such as driving, meal delivery, item delivery, security – (monitoring CCTV, patrolling premises, locking and securing same, issuing keys, assisting with gritting) waste management, at times transfer of patients in and around some hospital areas, the transportation of: linen, specimens, stores, equipment and supplies etc.
You will also coordinate all internal and external mail and assist as a presence in incidents related to violence and aggression.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
You are required to be numerate, literate and practical and have the ability to operate a wide range of vehicles and mechanical & moving aids.
The below knowledge and experience is essential for this role:-
Essential Criteria
1. Clean Driving License
2. Good Communication as this will take place at various levels e.g., Estates, Heads of Department, Practice Managers etc.
3. Must have ability to use own initiative to anticipate and make appropriate decisions.
4. Expected to work with minimal supervision.
5. Flexible approach to work and working hours

Hours:
16.77 Hours per week - Hours are allocated over 7 days and differing shift patterns.
