Sr. Program Manager, Digital and Emerging Payments
Amazon’s Digital and Emerging Payments team develops global services to create and improve the customer paying experience. Measuring customer behavior, developing insights and monitoring our success requires large amounts of data. We are looking for a Senior Program Manager with a delivery record and proven project management experience to own strategic, tactical, cross-functional and technology projects and programs across multiple subject areas.
This role is situated in central business intelligence team to manage their charter and visibility across the global payment organization. You will be managing the roadmap of the BI and DE team working closely with BI engineers, Business Analysts, and Data engineers. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as Product, Marketing, Finance, and Engineering managers to define the roadmap, clarify doubts, remove roadblocks, and set expectations. You will create mechanisms to connect with the right people on a periodic basis. You will also own complex cross-country BI projects to define the requirements, identify the right set of metrics and owners, and work with Tech, DE, and BI for instrumentation.
Key job responsibilities
1. Own defining BI & DE roadmap and conduct yearly/quarterly/monthly prioritization, suggest trade-offs considering the larger picture.
2. Work closely with stakeholders for requirement gathering, structuring, and alignment for delivery.
3. Define requirements for an analytics project working backward from customer needs, identify right owners, secure resources, and work with them on implementation.
4. Collaborate on OP1/2 planning for BI and DE function within the organization, write reports/documents that detail the progress to leadership on a frequent basis.
5. Analyze data, perform research using existing dashboards to answer business questions.
6. Oversee gaps between teams, processes, and systems, helping teams reduce exposure to classic failure modes.
A day in the life
In this role, you could find yourself starting the day attending BI, DE connect to understand the team’s current status and blockers and help making effective trade-offs. Throughout your day, you have meetings with global business stakeholders to provide updates on existing data requests, make alignment on new requirements, or identify improvement areas in existing processes. In the afternoon, to continue writing BI requirements for a project you own, you may be meeting with other peers and stakeholders. You use existing dashboards or BI solutions to dive deep on some data issues on a separate topic. Later you will spend a few hours writing a document, replying to emails, attending other org-level meetings to get the latest updates. At the end you may have ad-hoc BI/DE connect to gain understanding on a topic and provide direction.
About the team
Our team is a mix of BIEs, Business Analysts, and a sister team that consists of data engineers and data scientists with a wide range of experience in visualization, data analytics, data modeling, and extract transform and load (ETL). This is an opportunity to run program charter for an analytics team with a huge amount of data and complex payment initiatives. A candidate will get experience working on a variety of problem statements like managing expectations of senior leaders, creating effective mechanisms to track and report the progress of a project or program, diving deep into data to find anomalies, etc. This is a high visibility role with exposure to interact with senior leaders available worldwide.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of program or project management experience.
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
- Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams.
- Knowledge of Excel and basic SQL.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of at least one data visualization product (Tableau, Looker, Amazon QuickSight, etc.).
- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience.
- Master's degree, or MBA in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field.
