Non-UK Qualified Lawyer, Civil Litigation & Criminal Prosecutions (Full-Time)
This is a position for a Legal Professional with some experience, but who does not meet the requirements for admission as a Solicitor/Legal Executive/Barrister in England & Wales. This position is on a permanent, full-time basis. As a Non-UK Qualified Lawyer within the Council’s well-respected Legal Services team, you will handle a technical legal caseload of complex, politically sensitive cases, ensuring the provision of timely, accurate, and high-quality advice. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver high standards of service in Civil litigation, Criminal Prosecutions, Commercial and Regulatory matters team. The role will include, but is not limited to, the following:
* Managing a range of Civil and Criminal Litigation cases under the supervision of the Principal Lawyer.
* Developing expertise in areas such as Housing, Judicial Review, Criminal Prosecutions, Commercial Law, Regulatory matters and more.
* Representing, commensurate with experience, the Council in the County and Magistrates Court, providing advocacy services and managing litigation.
About You
* Legal Degree or equivalent.
* Commitment to completing the SQE or QLTS.
* Experience in a relevant area of practice and understanding of UK Local Government.
* Experience in preparing reports and legal documents.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Experience of managing conflicting priorities.
* Strong team management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and training.
