Sure Staffing is looking for Harvest Manager to join our fantastic team. We are recruiting for one of the UK's largest producers and packers of mushrooms. A Harvest Manager oversees the entire crop harvesting process, ensuring optimal yield and quality. Salary: £55.000 per annum Location: York YO43 Duration: Ongoing Working Hours of Harvest Manager: Rota basis 5 days per week to include weekends and Statutory Bank Holidays 6am-6pm Responsibilities: Coordinate and supervise the harvest team to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. Develop and implement harvest plans, schedules, and strategies to maximize productivity and minimize waste. Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards, including proper use and maintenance of equipment and machinery. Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies are available for the harvest season. Collaborate with other departments, including sales and marketing, to ensure timely delivery of products to customers. Analyse harvest data and provide regular reports to management on productivity, efficiency, and performance. Train and mentor harvest team members, providing guidance and support to ensure their success and professional development. Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve harvest operations. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, or related field Knowledge of crop production, harvesting techniques, and post-harvest handling Ability to create and manage budgets, as well as analyse data and make informed decisions Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures related to agriculture and harvesting and audits. Excellent communication skills to liaise with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders Experience with retailers audit protocol and sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation Knowledge of mushroom farming techniques and the ability to implement them to increase productivity and yield. Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of farm workers, ensuring efficient completion of tasks and maintaining high morale. Excellent problem-solving abilities to tackle any issues that arise, whether related to farming practices, equipment malfunction, or staff. Understanding of pest and disease management specific to mushrooms, and ability to implement preventative and remedial measures. Attention to detail and organization skills for managing planting schedules, maintaining records of crop yields, and overseeing the condition and maintenance of farm equipment. Physical stamina to handle the demanding nature of farm work, which may involve long hours and manual labour. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in the farming industry to ensure a safe working environment. Good communication skills for liaising with suppliers, buyers, and farm staff, as well as for reporting to farm owners or stakeholders. Basic mechanical skills to perform minor repairs on farm machinery and equipment.
