We are seeking a detail-oriented individual with excellent analytical skills to join our high-performing Commercial Finance team. This role will play a critical role in the delivery of Stagecoach’s budgeting and reforecasting cycles, setting the expectations for stakeholders and creating insightful analysis to support the Exec Committee in decision-making.
Principal Accountabilities
* Manage the end-to-end budget and reforecasting process across Stagecoach’s business units, ensuring colleagues deliver to clearly defined deadlines.
* Prepare & maintain budget templates, updating and refining requirements based on business needs.
* Produce company-wide planning assumptions based on internal and external market factors.
* Support the Head of FP&A, Commercial Finance Director and CFO on bespoke analysis and scenario planning.
* Translate latest projections into the long-term financial model for sharing with Stagecoach’s owners.
* Work closely with our Accounting and Group Finance colleagues to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation of financial data.
* Any other reasonable tasks as required.
Person Requirements – Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
* Proactive, results-oriented individual who is always looking to find solutions to problems as they arise.
* Ability to multi-task and balance long-term planning with day-to-day deliverables.
* Previous experience within an FP&A function or extensive hands-on experience of budgeting & forecasting.
* Experience of working with large datasets in Excel and summarising findings for non-Finance colleagues.
* Proven ability to work to deadlines and influence others to do the same.
* In-depth understanding of Microsoft Excel and proven ability to maintain and adapt existing models.
* Excellent analytical skills.
* Ability to communicate technical concepts and analysis outputs clearly and precisely both in writing and verbally.
* Ability to learn new technical concepts rapidly.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications
* Degree or vocational experience in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
* Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent).
