You will be joining a fast-paced environment assisting in finding logistics solutions for some of the world's largest industrial, retail & FMCG based customers. My client focuses on searching air freight, sea freight & road freight solutions, which are both cost-effective & time-sensitive.
Job Description
As a Freight Operations Supervisor, you will report to the Freight Branch Manager on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the following areas across the Tamworth office:
1. Managing a small team of 12 specialist freight forwarders across air, sea and road freight.
2. Overseeing the team responsible for preparing road, air and sea freight pricing & customer quotations - informing about the freight prices, port charges, cost of special documents, insurance prices as well as prices for handling the goods.
3. Organising transport through third-party transit means - such as full loads, part loads, courier, air freight, sea freight and dedicated transport.
4. Providing valid insurance for the vehicles - trucks and trailers.
5. Providing appropriate transportation means with adequate load capacity and regulations around ADR via road freight.
6. Handling customs entries and arranging billings for VAT/Duties.
7. Ensuring, booking and conducting customs clearance.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have an expansive background in either air, sea or road freight forwarding industry with a bias towards either road freight. The ideal Freight Operations Supervisor will have the following skills and experience:
1. 3+ years experience in freight forwarding in either road or air freight.
2. Experience leading or managing teams within a freight forwarding or shipping environment.
3. Experience of pricing, quotation and planning customer deliveries across road, air & sea freight.
4. Desirable experience of customs compliance.
5. Excellent customer service experience.
6. Knowledge of INCOTerms is advantageous.
7. Commutable to Tamworth on a daily basis.
