We are seeking an enthusiastic junior doctor who has an interest in Paediatrics, for a period of 12 months with the possible option to extend based on training needs. The successful candidate will join the existing team of 17 Consultants, 4 Specialist Doctors and 9 middle grade Specialty Trainees working in a modern hospital with a well-equipped children’s department and Local Neonatal Unit (level 2).
The post holder will:
• Provide care of acute patients under the guidance of the senior staff
• Be encouraged to participate in audits
• Perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation where practicable with their colleagues both senior and junior.

• Provide care of acute patients under the guidance of the senior staff and will include assisting the Consultants at outpatient clinics and theatre sessions.
• Be expected to provide teaching to nursing staff and undergraduate students.
• Be expected to participate in audits and research as arranged by the firms.
• Perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation where practicable with their colleagues both senior and junior.
• Duties are a shift system and currently are modular i.e., one week attached to SCBU, one week to daytime emergencies, one week to community Paediatrics, etc. Average hours will be 48, currently being paid at salary plus Work Schedule allowances.
