Lavender Walk is a 12 bed General Adolescent Unit (GAU) that cares for young people between the ages of 13-18 years old, with complex mental health needs and emotional difficulties. We are a busy and friendly service which welcomes new skills and new ideas. It is part of Central & North West London (CNWL) Foundation Mental Health Trust and is situated in the borough of Kensington & Chelsea and located within the South Kensington and Chelsea Mental Health Centre (1 Nightingale Place, London, SW10 9NG). There are good transport links and a variety of local shops and amenities.
The Lavender Walk team is made up of two Consultant Psychiatrists (one of whom is the Clinical Lead), Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Therapies Lead), Matron (Clinical Unit Manager), Ward Manager, Qualified Nurses, Nurse Associates, Health Care Assistants, Speciality Doctors Junior Doctors, Clinical Psychologists, Systemic Family Psychotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Art Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Dietician, Social Worker and Teaching staff. We also regularly have students and trainees from the above professional disciplines on placement with the team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team and take on the role of Assistant Psychologist in a Tier 4 CAMHS unit. This is a new post for the Lavender Walk Adolescent Unit and you will have a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development of the role which we hope will become an integral part of the therapeutic provision provided by the ward.
We are looking for a motivated individual who is enthusiastic, forward thinking, and adaptable to work within our well established and welcoming multi-disciplinary team. The post-holder will have a passion for supporting the psychological well-being of our patients and they will become part of the Lavender Walk Therapies Team who were recent finalists for the Team of the Year at CNWL’s Therapies Awards. The post-holder will work alongside their colleagues, receiving support and supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist, on ensuring the provision of highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.

· To assist practitioner psychologists in the delivery of a specialist applied psychology service in a Tier 4 inpatient CAMHS unit.
· To provide clinical work as required by the service, under the direct guidance, close clinical and professional supervision of a practitioner psychologist. This includes both individual and group interventions with young people and their parents/carers.
· To assist in clinically related administration, including but not limited to, collection of routine outcome measures/statistics, taking minutes of clinical and professional meetings, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
