About the Role
Role is to lead test and development work on automotive electrified powertrains.
Requirements
· Degree level education likely in the field of electrical engineering or mechanical engineering. Higher level degrees are also useful.
· Experience in the automotive sector is required developing electrified powertrain and components.
· Background in automotive development environment.
· Experience in electrified powertrain including E-machine, driveline and engine.
· Knowledge and understanding of vehicle attribute engineering and target setting.
· Expert knowledge of Instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition equipment and powertrain test cells.
· Working knowledge of automotive calibration & data acquisition tools (ETAS INCA/MDA preferred).
· Experience of managing projects, including planning, executing, and reporting results.
· Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
· Ability to write and present high-quality reports to a varied audience.
· Ability to overcome cultural barriers.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Leading test & development work on electrified automotive powertrains and mechanical systems on powertrain test bed and in vehicle. This includes but is not limited to E-machines, E-drive units, battery, dedicated hybrid engines/components and E-control units
* Lead test and development of performance, efficiency, drivability etc. as needed based on project scope, to include:
* Support/manage powertrain build activities
* Design, plan and organise test and development programmes on powertrain rig or dyno
* Supervise powertrain development programs
* Develop and setup test facilities to suit electrified powertrain development needs
* Obtain and analyse data, ensuring data quality
* Feedback results & prepare test reports
* Experience on AVL or other powertrain rigs (5E) highly preferred
* Develop working practices in the department including training of other staff members
* Work collaboratively with the Design and CAE department and key external suppliers to establish powertrain targets for new projects and to help to establish and optimise designs
* Work collaboratively with other departments on the analysis and integration of powertrain systems to ensure their proper function
* Collaborate with CACQ as needed for joint projects and projects where support is required
* Collaborate with the calibration team to seamlessly handover and jointly deliver projects as needed
