The Centre for Voluntary Sector Leadership (CVSL), located within the Faculty of Business & Law (FBL), is inviting applications for a Research Assistant role to support the Black Leadership and Empowerment Programme (BLEP). BLEP emerged in response to the leadership gaps identified by The Open University and Inclusive Companies in the aftermath of the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests' call for racial equity and the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on racialised minorities. BLEP aims to address the underrepresentation of racialised minorities in leadership, challenge discrimination and challenge the structural barriers to racial equity. The first BLEP pilot hub was launched in February 2024 in Manchester in partnership with Autotrader, Manchester Airport Group and The Prince’s Trust. The second cohort of learners is due to start in February 2025.
This position is an exciting opportunity for a PhD student with research experience (207 hours on a 6 hours per week basis). The role provides many career and skills development opportunities, including possibly writing blogs for the CVSL website and co-writing practice and academic publications on inclusive leadership.

* Supporting the delivery of the objectives of BLEP, coordinating tasks with the OU project team and different stakeholders.
* Reviewing literature on impact evaluation.
* Organising and conducting up to 25 interviews with participants and other stakeholders in BLEP and up to 2 focus group interviews.
* Conducting data analysis: secondary data analysis, interviews, and focus groups analysis.
* Effectively drafting impact evaluation findings.
* Updating the CVSL team at monthly meetings on the progress of the project.
* Communicating effectively using appropriate media throughout the project for engagement and impact.
