Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Development Engineer to join a leading global business specializing in Coding and Marking solutions in Cambridgeshire.
The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager and will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical hardware solutions for the New Product Development (NPD) team. This role involves both hands-on work and theoretical design. Key responsibilities include:
1. Design, develop, and build test equipment and test rigs to support validation and verification activities.
2. Define and document System Level Hardware Specifications, ensuring compliance with safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
3. Perform V&V testing, including system-level validation, prototyping, debugging, and performance modeling.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Chemistry, and Software engineers, to drive product development and project delivery.
5. Create detailed technical documentation, reports, and comprehensive Test Plans.
6. Participate in FMEA’s, Design Reviews, and define product specifications.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, fluid systems, system integration, and problem-solving methodologies.
* Proficiency in CAD tools (Creo) for mechanical design, integrating mechanical components with hardware systems.
* Hands-on experience with mechanical manufacturing techniques such as milling and turning.
This role is based in Cambridgeshire with a hybrid working model (4 days in the office, 1 day remote).
