Our valued client is a leading electrical training provider based in Birmingham. They currently train over 600 electrical apprentices working with 250 local and national electrical contractors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an additional Electrical Training Officer/ Assessor to their team. Graded GOOD by Ofsted at their last inspection, they pride themselves on delivering high-quality industry-relevant training to the next generation of electricians. Our Training Officers play an integral part in the apprenticeship delivery, working with apprentices to complete their NVQ Portfolio, assessing evidence, and reviewing them regularly. You will act as a mentor and main point of contact for a cohort of apprentices. The role requires candidates to work from our Birmingham Centre, but due to the changing nature of the electrical industry, local and national traveling are required to review and assess apprentices across the UK. Successful candidates will support apprentices in collecting evidence for their portfolio, assessing evidence, and working closely with employers to provide training and support to apprentices.
Job Responsibilities
1. Supporting Apprentices with building NVQ Portfolio
2. Assessing Apprentices Evidence & Electrical Work in the workplace
3. Undertaking progress reviews with apprentices every 10-12 weeks
4. Working with employers and supporting successful training of their apprentices
5. Visiting Sites UK Wide to undertake reviews & assessments
6. Undertaking Assessments at our Birmingham Training Centre
7. Assessing Practical Work
Role Requirements
Desired Skills & Experience:
1. Previous experience as an Electrical Training Officer or Assessor (D32 and D33, A1 or TAQA)
2. Qualifications in Health & Safety and NVQ Assessment (IOSH Managing Safely)
3. City & Guilds Part 1 & 2 in electrical installation / Level 3 NVQ Apprenticeship & AM2
4. Ideally 18th Edition or Level 3 Test & Inspection Qualifications
5. A passion for helping students achieve
6. Good IT skills
7. A positive attitude
8. Excellent communication skills
9. Driving licence and access to a car is essential as travelling is required
10. OR Qualified electrician looking for a change of direction (training will be provided)
11. Served a recognised apprenticeship (Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation + AM2)
12. Minimum of 5 years' experience “on the tools”
13. Relevant industry qualifications, e.g., 18th Edition, 2391 Test & Inspection are desirable
14. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Electrical Installation
Benefits:
1. Salary - £34,000- £38,000 per annum (Depending on Experience & Qualifications)
2. 25 days annual leave + holiday plus Statutory Holidays

Working Hours are 8.00am - 4.30 Mon-Thurs, 8.00am - 4.00 on Friday with ½ lunch. Due to the flexible nature of the electrical contracting industry, successful candidates will need to work with employers to find suitable times to assess and review their apprentices; this may mean taking a flexible approach to working, such as working early mornings, late evenings, or nights if required.
Safeguarding Children and Young people is at the heart of what we do, as the role requires candidates to work with young people 16+. It is a requirement that candidates undertake an Enhanced DBS Check and can provide 2 satisfactory references on commencement of employment. We also require candidates to provide proof of the right to work in the UK (Passport, Birth Certificate or Visa).
