Hays Senior Finance have been retained by a family-owned SME manufacturing business in the Worcestershire area as they look to appoint a new Financial Controller on a permanent basis. The company has experienced strong levels of growth in recent years and, as such, are keen to bring in an experienced individual who has aspirations of becoming a Finance Director in the future.
Your new role
Reporting into the Group Finance Director, you will be responsible for leading on all finance and accounting operations locally whilst managing a small, well-established team.
* Managing the day-to-day operations including AP, AR, NL, cost accounting, stock accounting and payroll
* Co-ordinating month-end and year-end close processes
* Co-ordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and other financial forecasts
* Preparing and publishing monthly financial statements
* Overseeing the audit process including the preparation of statutory accounts and liaising with auditors
* Cashflow management
* Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
* Supervision and management of the finance team (5 staff)
* Streamlining and improving financial operations, processes and systems
* Support with financial strategy and decision-making
What you'll need to succeed
* Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with post-qualification experience
* Previous experience in the preparation of management accounts, year-end financial statements, budgets and projections
* Proven track record of operating at a high level within an SME organisation, preferably within the manufacturing sector
* Able to work closely with both financial and non-financial staff
* Persuasive and determined personality with the confidence to challenge and influence
* Possess the ability to motivate, manage and develop staff
* Strong Excel skills and highly proficient with accounting packages (Sage an advantage)

You will be comfortable working from an office as the role is 5 days per week onsite.
