There is an opportunity for an individual to join the unscheduled care management team at Withybush Hospital, for a 6 months interim period.
The post is for a Service Delivery Manager at Withybush hospital. This post is a SDM for WGH Site and a strategic lead for Stroke and Care of the Elderly specialties for the Health Board.
The post holder will support the Withybush Hospital triumvirate management team in the delivery of what will be predominantly unscheduled care services. Reporting directly to the Hospital General Manager, the post holder will assume operational responsibility for managing and improving unscheduled care pathways and taking the health board wide lead on stroke and care of the elderly (COTE).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an aspiring leader and will, under the direction of the Hospital General Manager, co-ordinate emergency and non-elective clinical service provision and medical specialties across their designated site and show innovation in supporting service improvement initiatives.
The post holder will lead and work with colleagues at many levels through a service improvement journey, bringing a degree of credibility to the planning ambitions of the teams.
The post holder will hold delegated responsibility for a delegated budget for unscheduled care and will deliver a balanced budget at year end or alternatively agreed position. The post holder will be involved in leading corporate projects. The post holder is also expected to participate in a silver On-Call rota for the organisation and deputise for the Hospital General Manager where required.

The post holder will support the Hospital General Manager and hospital triumvirate management team and work with hospital staff involved in the delivery of unscheduled care services and Stroke and Care of the Elderly specialties, in order to deliver the Health Boards aims and objectives and associated targets and ensure strategies are clearly communicated to all relevant staff so that effective contributions to implementation of operational plans can be made. Work closely with the Hospital General Manager and hospital triumvirate management team in their regular monitoring and review of operational plans relevant to services managed.
This post requires someone with effective leadership skills and effective management co-ordination of locally provided unscheduled care services and medical specialties as they impact the overall patient experience and delivery of safe services.
The post holder must be able to negotiate daily with senior NHS professionals and managers working in a financially constrained health economy on issues that have a significant impact on quality and safe services, which may involve exposure to potentially emotionally distressing circumstances.
The post holder will manage their delegated resources in a systematic manner and lead by example where the prudent management of Health Boards delegated resources are concerned.
The post holder will be responsible for performance management of services and accompanying systems.
The post holder will need to support the Hospital General Manager and triumvirate teams in their pursuit of compliance with fire, health and safety, security and counter terrorism. This role will also support developing and maintaining business continuity and emergency preparedness plans.
This post holder will support the Hospital General Manager and local triumvirate team in their delivery of the overall quality agenda to ensure that unscheduled care service and medical specialties are delivered with a significant focus on quality and support the development and instigation of appropriate continuous improvement systems.
The post holder must be able to travel between other Health Board sites and occasionally wider NHS Wales' sites.

Essential
* A higher degree at Master's level or equivalent experience at senior management level
* Evidence of continuous management and personal development
* Knowledge of NHS, WG and Health Board strategies, policies and plans including HR policies
* Current knowledge of best practice gained through personal research
* In depth knowledge of strategic healthcare agenda relating to service delivery
