This role places you at the centre of the largest change programme in Sainsbury’s history. Your analysis and recommendations will influence key decisions on the major “Next Level Sainsbury’s” strategy, while also granting you exposure to senior stakeholders across all functions in the broader group. You will be responsible for creating the optimal space allocations to deliver the best commercial and customer outcomes through your As a Macro Space Manager you’ll: Develop, and lead, a Macro Space programme of change across Food space that will successfully deliver the corporate strategy. Manage all analytics across key programmes impacting Food space (including the Supermarket Space Optimisation Programme, New Format Development and Big Bets, amongst many others). Be the key space contact for trading teams; working closely with multiple stakeholders across the business to deliver incremental sales, volume and profit growth. Work alongside internal and external teams to provide the strategic input for the development of our industry leading tools and models Work with a diverse range of teams and stakeholders to get buy in for these models e.g. Strategy, Trading, Finance, Retail and Property Constantly evaluate the performance of stores and categories to ensure we spot opportunities to improve our utilisation of space How will i succeed Set clear objectives, strategy and hypotheses based on thorough analysis and alignment to category visions. Achieve positive balanced scorecard of measures relating to customer choice, financial performance, and operational compliance Develop expert systems and data capabilities through attending relevant training courses, supporting tool development work Engage successfully with stakeholders at all levels Innovate and drive development of ranging and insight approach Internal stakeholder (customer) metrics are achieved Become recognised as the expert for all space recommendations Ensure Space considerations are clearly articulated to relevant stakeholders to aid decision making, and highlight opportunities and/or risks from a Space point of view The Commercial Planning team would love to see: Commercial and broader Grocery market understanding Analytical – experienced and skilled in data manipulation and analysis with ability to focus on key issues End-to-end project management and delivery skills, including prioritisation and reaction to change, ability to subsequently validate actual project benefits Influencing – Influences successfully at all levels and brings clear point of view Effective communicator - understands the importance of, and builds a network around the wider business Effective project management and organisation skills Expert level Excel and PowerPoint Awareness of how to balance space recommendations with other commercial priorities Commercial experience of what drives a supermarket P & L and the levers to pull to drive change Strong ability to understand the ‘what does this mean’ from data and how it can be used to influence decision making Why Sainsbury’s?
