An established logistics company is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Operations Team Member to oversee day-to-day operational functions, customer service, and overall business efficiency. As an Operations Controller, you will be a hands-on, relationship-driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to both operational success and client engagement.
Operations Controller responsibilities:
* Support the operations team in fulfilling customer requirements.
* Plan and organise your workload, working both independently and as part of a team.
* Engage with existing clients via phone, video calls, and in-person meetings.
* Coordinate air, road, and sea shipments within the UK and for cross-trade movements.
* Ensure billing accuracy and apply sound commercial judgment on customer margins.
* Prepare and present quotations for project-based, ad-hoc, and regular shipments.
* Complete job files accurately and enter bookings into the internal management system.
* Track and trace customer shipments, updating portals and sending milestone reports.
* Ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
* Assist in pick/pack/distribution activities as needed (manual tasks involved).
* Build strong internal relationships across operations, finance, transport, and management.
* Participate in the on-call rota, shared equally among the team.
* Prepare monthly client reports and communicate key insights.

* Ability to create and articulate reports and customer proposals effectively.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
