Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an 8a (or Preceptorship Band 7) Psychologist to join the expanded Mental Health Liaison team based at Basildon Hospital. We welcome applications from psychologists who are newly qualified, as well as from those with more experience. We are also happy to consider those who would like to work part-time and/or flexible hours.
The successful applicant will form part of the Clinical Health Psychology Services across Essex. The applicant will be working within the CORE 24 model of Mental Health Liaison, looking to support people accessing the acute hospital and staff to consider the psychological aspects of health.
Main duties of the job
This post introduces psychological assessment, intervention, consultation and support to the Mental Health Liaison team, consisting of Liaison Psychiatry and Psychiatric Nurses. The role is welcomed by Basildon Hospital and there will be opportunity for working across wards and specialty areas.
As part of the CORE 24 agenda, we not only work in inpatient services, but we are piloting a continued care outpatient clinic, supporting people who we have worked with in the hospital.

The Clinical Health Psychology Services are for adults who are experiencing difficulties adjusting to serious chronic illness and other physical health conditions.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Completed Clinical Doctorate level training
* Registered with HCPC as practitioner psychologist
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Has worked with people with mental and physical health difficulties
* Demonstrates assessment and intervention knowledge relevant to the area of practice
* Has worked in the NHS/or equivalent as a qualified member of staff
* Is able to demonstrate a desire and/or understanding of liaison working
* Demonstrates knowledge of working with systems
