We are seeking 1 enthusiastic care worker to join our multi-disciplinary team at Barnsley Hospital main theatres to provide care for patients during their time in the Operating Theatre Department. You will help prepare the theatre, support qualified staff with the care of patients through all areas, and participate in cleaning of clinical and staff areas. Duties include the transport of patients within our department and others.
Main duties of the job
Participation in provision of a 24-hour service including shift work, weekends, and night duty is a requirement of this post.
Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN)/Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) providing perioperative care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the RN/ODP.
Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.

Experience
* Previous experience working and communicating with the public.
* Previous experience of working in an acute healthcare setting.
Qualifications
* Functional skills in literacy and numeracy.
* The Care Certificate or working towards.
* Educated to GCSE Standard C or above (English and Maths).

Knowledge and Awareness
* An understanding of the role of a Support Worker.
* An awareness of what is important to a patient.
* Knowledge of the theatre setting and workload.
