Salary: £49,940 per annum.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday with 1 out of 4 Saturdays.
Week One: 06:45 - 14:45
Week Two: 14:30 - 22:30
A quick look at the role.
The Multi Skilled Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within the MBT facility. This role involves ensuring that plant machinery and equipment are running at optimal efficiency, while minimising downtime and adhering to all health and safety protocols. The engineer will play a key role in the daily operations, performing both reactive and preventative maintenance to support the effective processing of waste materials.

* Maintenance and Repairs: Perform both scheduled and reactive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and automated systems including conveyors, shredders, pumps, fans, and other waste processing equipment.
* Troubleshooting: Diagnose faults in machinery and systems, identifying the root cause of breakdowns and implementing effective solutions to minimise operational disruptions.
* Electrical Systems: Work on electrical installations and repair, including control systems, motor circuits, switchgear, and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems. Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards.
* Mechanical Systems: Repair and maintain mechanical systems, such as hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, motors, bearings, and rotating machinery.
* Preventative Maintenance: Develop and follow a preventative maintenance schedule to ensure equipment reliability and longevity, while reducing unexpected breakdowns.
* Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all site health and safety regulations, ensuring all maintenance work is carried out in a safe manner. Conduct risk assessments and follow safe work procedures.
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, including fault reports, spare parts used, and maintenance schedules. Provide regular updates to supervisors and contribute to maintenance planning.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within the maintenance and operation processes, proposing and implementing changes that increase operational efficiency or safety.
Here’s what we require:
* Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
* Certificate of Competence in Industrial Electrical maintenance.
* Working knowledge of and practical experience with: Pumps (centrifugal, progressive cavity, rotary lobe), conveyor belts, screw conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, basic electrical engineering knowledge, compressors, motors, and gearboxes.
