Job Title: Senior/ Associate Quantity Surveyor (PQS)
Location: Warrington (2-3 days working from home)
Remuneration: £55,000 - £65,000 (inclusive of car allowance) + outstanding bonus scheme
The Opportunity
A North West-based construction consultancy who pride themselves on exceeding client expectations and have continued to develop new operating disciplines within the business in order to service their varied and long-standing client base. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly successful and well established SME as a senior member of the PQS team with a clear pathway to directorship within the next 4 years. Operating in the built environment within the North West for over 20 years, they are on a vast number of frameworks across the North West, enabling them to undertake a wide variety of work; residential, education, healthcare, commercial and government contracts etc.
The business offers a range of consultancy services; Employers Agent, Principal Designer, Building safety, Quantity Surveying and CDM advice and services to a range of existing clients.
This will be a varied role encompassing all elements of PQS work both pre- and post-contract. Main duties of the role include:
Pre-Contract Duties:
Measurements:
* Accurately measure quantities of materials, labour, and other resources required for the project.
* Prepare detailed bills of quantities (BoQs) and schedules of rates and utilise NRM2.
Cost Planning and Estimating:
* Conduct feasibility studies and prepare cost estimates at various design stages.
* Develop and maintain cost plans to ensure that the design remains within budget.
* Advise on procurement strategies and contract selection (NEC, JCT).
* Evaluate tenders and prepare tender reports with recommendations.
Contract Documentation:
* Draft and review contract documents, ensuring compliance with NEC and JCT standards.
Post-Contract Duties:
* Contract Administration; administer NEC and JCT contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
* Cost Control and Reporting; monitor project costs and prepare regular cost reports.
* Prepare and agree on final accounts with contractors2
* Risk Management; identify and manage project risks, including the implementation of early warning systems under NEC contracts.
* Provide advice on dispute resolution and claims management.
* Quality and Compliance; ensure that the works are carried out in accordance with the contract specifications.
* Conduct site inspections and audits.
What you'll need to succeed
This is an integral hire for the business, so the PQS Quantity Surveyor must have a proven background within a consultancy environment and hold an MRICS qualification.
