Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to take on a specialist role within the therapy team at Longmoor House.
Longmoor House is an integrated care unit with 69 inpatient beds providing therapy and nurse led care to patients that have been either stepped up from the community or stepped down to our service from the acute. Based on a nursing and therapy led reablement model, utilising a holistic and person centred approach in order to support individuals requiring our services. Our multidisciplinary working with combined expertise, revised pathways and community connections will facilitate a more timely discharge in conjunction with our service users.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will take on the Band 7 Physiotherapist role at Longmoor House which will involve the operational leadership of the therapy team in conjunction with the Band 7 Occupational Therapist. This will include the day to day management of the therapy team, ensuring high standards of therapeutic interventions are delivered to all patients in our care. Performance management in line with CQC standards, including provision/oversight of audit, staff and service development, sickness management etc. There will also be an expectation that you will provide clinical expertise and support to the Physiotherapists within the team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Responsible for the line management of the therapy team alongside the Band 7 Occupational Therapist
* Provide clinical expertise and support within the scope of Physiotherapy practice to the Physiotherapists within the team
* Performance management including provision/oversight of audit, staff appraisals in the form of PACE, supervision and sickness management.
* Provide care, advice and guidance in the treatment of others, when dealing with complex highly specialised conditions.
* Roster management including authorising of annual leave, ensuring adequate staffing levels to deliver an effective service.
* Challenge professional and organisational boundaries to ensure the role is focused on meeting the needs of our patients.
* Clinically lead, direct, mentor and support the therapy team.
* Attendance and involvement in senior leadership team meetings where performance is monitored.
* Develop new ways of working to provide a responsive service to patients with both planned and unplanned care needs
Person specification
Qualifications
* Qualification of relevant degree to the post requirement
* Registration with relevant professional body
* Teaching/mentorship qualification or equivalent or equivalent work based experience.
* Evidence of CPD/short courses
Knowledge
* Awareness of current national and local agenda in health and social care.
* Understanding of partnership working. Understanding of the principles of care management.
* Awareness of factors that contribute to good health and the importance of promoting these in line with organisational public health policy.
* Evidence of being able to communicate complex information and advice on healthcare to patients/clients, carers and colleagues.
* Confident in challenging poor practice and ability to address difficult issues.
* Demonstrable post registration/qualification experience
* Experience of successful multi-agency working.
* Demonstrable experience in relevant area of practice or equivalent.
* Experience in triaging and coordination of staff and caseload.
