We are looking for a Relief Marine Operative to join the team based at Hull, King George Dock. You’ll act as a relief for staff on holiday or sickness absence to physically monitor the movement of shipping throughout the ports locks and during berthing & unberthing operations. Control of lock operations in Alexandra and Albert Docks.
What you’ll be doing:
* Act as shift working relief on leave or sickness absence.
* Physically monitor shipping movements within the port to ensure safety of marine operations and to report any damage to infrastructure.
* Operation of the lock gates at Alexandra and Albert docks.
* Operation of links spans within the P&O terminal.
* When on duty at Albert dock, supervise Pilot boarding and landing on riverside quay.
* Regular inspections of and removal of debris from the lock pit areas and lock gate walkways.
* General light duties including cleaning and painting as directed by the Duty ADM.
* Gritting of lock sides and bridge walkways during and prior to adverse weather.
* Carry out dock patrols in works transport.
Essential Qualifications:
* Marine Induction Module: PPE (Donning and pre-wear checks)
* Life Jackets (Donning and pre-wear checks)
* Operation of lock gates and HMI (all docks), SSOW
