We have a friendly and supportive team of more than 200 staff, with over 40 GPs, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Nurses, Mental Health specialists and our range of administrative staff.
We are seeking an experienced Prescription Clerk to act as a focal point of communication between the GPs, receptionist, practice manager, patients and local chemist, as well as other members of the primary health care team, to ensure patients’ repeat and acute medication is produced within the current protocols of the surgery at our Parkstone Tower Practice, on a permanent, part time basis.
The successful post holder will undertake a Standard DBS check and be subject to pre-employment checks.
Job responsibilities:
* To process all repeat & acute medication requests sent in by patients using the various protocols in place.
* To collect repeat prescription requests received online, email, from the post box, fax and reception at both sites.
* To liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests and ensure follow up action is taken if the enquiry cannot be resolved immediately.
* To have knowledge of and adherence to the practices repeat prescribing protocol and to ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols that are already in place and ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly.
* To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant GP.
* To regularly go through prescriptions ‘not picked up’ and ‘unlikely to be picked up’ as a result of the timescale, to remove the details from the patient records and then destroy the prescription.
* Prepare blood test cards (TQUEST) where appropriate.
* Manage PPA.
