We are looking for an experienced litigator to join our busy Litigation team. The Litigation Team deals with civil and criminal litigation, licensing, employment, and debt recovery.
Your caseload will predominantly consist of prosecutions and licensing; from initial instruction through to advocacy at Court, as well as a range of general litigation matters.
About you
The ideal candidate will have local government, prosecution, and licensing experience. You must have the ability and willingness to assist in other areas covered by the team. It is essential that you have good interpersonal skills, can plan and organise your own workload with minimal supervision in a supportive environment. You must be able to work to tight court deadlines whilst fulfilling quality and service standards. You will be a strong team player, flexible, enthusiastic, and committed.
You must be a qualified Solicitor / Barrister / Chartered Legal Executive.
You will undertake advocacy in Courts / Tribunals, attend meetings / committees, give advice to Senior Managers and officers, and should have excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
The ideal candidate must be motivated and enthusiastic and be a pro-active team player who can react positively to changing priorities and is willing to embrace new technology and ways of working as well as possessing good interpersonal skills.
Local authority experience is preferable; however, Rochdale Council will consider private practice and public sector candidates.
The successful candidate will be part of a team based in award-winning office accommodation in the town centre which has undergone multi-million-pound regeneration. Agile working is available, subject to business need.
