Position: Senior Category Manager
Location: London, 1/2 days in the office
Term: 12-Month FTC
Salary: Up to £80k + benefits
This is a unique opportunity to work with a leading global food and beverage company, renowned for its commitment to health-focused and sustainable products. They are looking for an accomplished Senior Category Manager to support the category development strategy for one of our most significant retail partnerships. This role will have a direct impact on their business growth, driving category performance while fostering collaborative and high-performing teams.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Category Manager, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the category strategy across one of our key retail accounts. This is a 12-month contract role, ideal for an experienced category manager with extensive top-tier retail experience and a talent for mentoring and developing others. You’ll use market insights, data, and your strategic acumen to drive growth, while also playing a pivotal role in coaching team members to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Category Strategy Development: Lead the development and implementation of strategic category plans to drive growth, enhance brand visibility, and improve shopper engagement within the retail partner.
2. Retail Partnership Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for category management with this retail account, fostering a collaborative relationship that aligns our category objectives with the retailer’s goals.
3. Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilise consumer insights, market trends, and performance data to inform decisions, optimize assortments, and adapt category strategies based on evolving shopper behaviours.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including sales, supply chain, marketing, and insights, to ensure alignment and cohesive execution of category strategies.
5. Innovation and Trend Monitoring: Keep abreast of industry trends, competitive activities, and consumer preferences, translating insights into actionable plans that drive innovation within the category.
Key Requirements:
1. 5+ years of experience in category management with one of the top four UK retailers.
2. Strong track record in driving category growth and managing complex retail accounts.
3. Proven experience in leading strategic category projects.
4. Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in using data and insights to drive strategy, identify trends, and make evidence-based decisions.
5. Strong ability to influence and engage both internal and external stakeholders, with exceptional relationship-building skills.
6. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
7. Ideally has experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing junior team members to foster a positive, growth-oriented team environment.
