Job Title: Senior Finance Officer Salary: £33,476 per annum – Band E, Level 3 (Inclusive of Outer London Weighting) Location: Gilwell Park, Chingford, London (with hybrid working at least two days in the office at Gilwell Park) Contract Type: Permanent Working Hours: 35 We’re looking for a Senior Finance Officer to join our team and support the Transaction Manager. You’ll help manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Management, including processing invoices, expenses, and receipts, as well as reconciling balance sheets. You’ll also play a key role in process improvements, team training, and resolving financial discrepancies. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and experience in financial systems, who enjoys coaching and helping others succeed. Key responsibilities Oversee processing of purchase orders, invoices, expense claims, and supplier requests, ensuring accuracy in Accounts Payable and Receivable. Manage monthly cash balances and reconciliations for bank and control accounts, ensuring accurate posting of transactions. Support finance team training, resolve discrepancies, and act as a system ‘superuser’ for finance processes. Ensure compliance with internal controls, maintain ledgers, and prepare journals (accruals, prepayments, etc.). Lead and coach finance officers to foster a high-performance, collaborative team culture. What we're looking for in our Senior Finance Officer Strong communication skills with a methodical, detail-oriented approach to work and problem-solving. Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to change with empathy and collaboration. Strong numerical skills and a team player who contributes to achieving outcomes through effective teamwork. Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and AAT qualification. Proficient in computerized accounting systems, including payment and banking systems. Knowledge of VAT principles; experience in charity, not-for-profit, or public sector is a plus. Driven, resilient problem-solver who collaborates effectively to improve processes and tools while building relationships quickly both virtually and in-person.
