Purpose of Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced Electrical Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, compliance, and operational performance of electrical systems across designated facilities. This role ensures all electrical services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Maintenance & Compliance – Ensure electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure adhere to regulatory standards, safety requirements, and company policies.
2. Contractor & Vendor Management – Coordinate and oversee external contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of electrical maintenance and repairs.
3. Risk Management & Safety – Implement and maintain risk management procedures, ensuring compliance with electrical safety regulations and workplace health and safety standards.
4. Planned & Reactive Maintenance – Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs while managing responses to electrical faults and breakdowns.
5. Stakeholder Engagement – Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including facility occupants, project teams, and regulatory bodies, to ensure electrical services meet business needs.
6. Budget & Cost Control – Monitor maintenance budgets, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high service standards.
7. Reporting & Documentation – Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance, testing, and compliance activities. Provide management reports on system performance and maintenance outcomes.
8. Asset Management – Oversee electrical asset lifecycle planning, ensuring timely upgrades and replacements to maintain system efficiency and compliance.
9. Continuous Improvement – Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency gains, energy savings, and system improvements, keeping up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
10. Project Support – Provide technical expertise for electrical components of facility upgrades, refurbishments, and new installations.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Experience: Proven experience in electrical maintenance, facilities management, or asset management, with a strong understanding of electrical systems, compliance requirements, and contractor management. Experience in coordinating maintenance activities within a commercial or industrial environment.
2. Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations and compliance requirements. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and asset management systems.
3. Education: Licensed electrician with relevant trade qualifications, or an electrical engineering degree. Current electrical licence and relevant safety certifications.
4. Experience: Previous experience managing electrical services in large-scale facilities or within a regulated industry. Exposure to energy efficiency projects and electrical system optimisation.
5. Skills: Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS). Understanding of energy management and sustainability practices.
6. Education: Additional certifications in facilities management, project management, or energy efficiency (preferred but not required).
