Financial Accountant, London – Arts Education, up to £45,000
A vibrant arts organisation based in South London is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their busy finance function. The role is responsible for the payroll, VAT and tax, year end accounts and audit and leading the AP function. This position is perfect for a strong technical accountant who is keen on being hands on in a small finance team. You must have solid financial accounting experience and have previously run payroll in house. We are currently only considering candidates on a short notice period.
Key Responsibilities:
* Be responsible for administration of online banking
* Support and line manage the Finance Officer, overseeing the purchase ledger and cash book
* Manage cash flow forecasting and ensure that cash is managed appropriately
* Review and authorise the weekly supplier payment run
* Manage the sales invoicing and credit control of commercial clients, donors and sponsors
* Support the Registry and Admissions Team with managing the collection of student debts
* Oversee the month end close and effective operation of month end accounting processes
* Be responsible for balance sheet reconciliations and resolving outstanding queries
* Ensure that restricted funds are reconciled and expenditure against funds meets the restrictions
* Manage the fixed asset register
* Be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of financial reporting for external bodies such as the Office for Students and Office of National Statistics
* Support the Director of Finance & HR with the preparation and production of annual financial statements and subsequent audit
* Prepare the quarterly VAT returns, in accordance with agreed partial exemption methodology
* Support the preparation of the annual Theatre Tax Relief calculation
* Be responsible for preparing monthly payroll and pensions ensuring payments are made on time
* Ensure the timely administration and submission of employee and freelancer statutory reporting responsibilities including ongoing and year-end HMRC requirements and returns
* Support the implementation and development of finance systems
* Support the Finance Business Partner with the preparation of accurate, reliable and timely financial information including monthly management accounts, termly forecasts, budget holder reports and project reporting
* Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, and the ongoing monitoring of actual and forecast financial performance
Key Skills & Qualifications:
* A qualified or part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) accountant who relishes variety in their role
* Detail oriented, working with a high degree of accuracy
* Excited about working in a dynamic environment and supporting organisational change
* Flexible and adaptable in approach
