Tech Crew/Conference Operations Team (Summer) - $9.50/hour
This position provides Sound and Lighting support for the summer conferences at Messiah University as well as assists the Conference Operations team.

Experience Required: Previous sound and lighting experience is required.
Experience Preferred: Experience with digital audio consoles.
Skills and Characteristics Required: Candidates should have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of sound and lighting operation, and be able to hear and know how to deal with distortion and feedback. Applicants should be flexible, able to take direction well, and be willing to learn. Additionally, this position must be able to interface well with people under pressure. The employee should be independent, self-motivated, have common sense, and have an ability to think for themselves.
Primary Duties:
1. Setup, operation, and troubleshooting of various lighting, sound, and video equipment for conferences, camps, and functions.
2. Transportation of sound, video, and other conference services equipment around campus.
3. Monitoring of equipment in use, as needed.
4. Organization and preparation of all technical equipment and needs for conferences, camps, and functions, as well as the upcoming school year.
5. Assisting with the inventory, cleaning, and organization of multiple storage facilities.
6. Repair and maintenance of equipment as needed.
7. Handling of all technical issues whenever the Technical Coordinator is not available.
8. Assisting the Technical Coordinator whenever required.
9. Perform all of the Guest Relations duties.
10. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Secondary Duties:
1. Responsible for coverage of the Conference Services Guest Relations Desk in the Eisenhower Campus Center.
2. Organize the Event Description book and maintain the AM and PM checklists daily.
3. Answer the telephone and respond to all guest-related questions.
4. Conduct periodic rounds throughout campus to check on conferences in the buildings the conferences have been assigned.
5. Work closely with the Conference and Events Coordinators and Director of Conference and Event Services.
Requirements:
1. Must reside on campus.
2. Weekend and evening work required.
3. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work from heights.
4. Restricted – no vacation days are allowed unless approved by the Conference and Events Coordinator.
5. Background checks are required for this position.
Dress Code Requirements:
PRIMARY DRESS: Skirts/pants and University-issued MU polos. Closed toe shoes.
SECONDARY DRESS (when appropriate or required by a supervisor): Men: Tie, dress shirt, and dress pants; Women: Dress or skirt and nice blouse.
