This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a newly created role within the organisation. The band 4 Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Co-ordinator will be responsible for providing a fit testing service and co-ordination of all RPE for all staff that may be required to wear respiratory protection (re-usable, single use, or powered respirators) as part of the job. The post holder will be fully trained for quantitative fit testing methods and will provide high levels of comprehensive support to staff being mask fit tested.
Main duties of the job
1. Training on ‘donning’ and ‘doffing’ respiratory protective equipment
2. Undertake quantitative mask fit testing using the Portacount machine
3. Maintain accurate record keeping of fit testing
4. Assess adequacy and suitability of tight-fitting masks
5. Training on how to use face masks safely
6. Guidance on correct handling and storage of RPE
7. Guidance on when to use respirators
8. Deliver Powered Air Respirator competency training
9. Co-ordinate the provision and accessibility to Powered Air Respirators
Person specification
Qualifications
* Accredited Fit to Fit Training to Health and Safety INDG479 (or working towards)
* Educated to a GCSE level or equivalent with grade C and above in English and Maths or NVQ level 4
Experience
* Experience of working within the NHS and or private care sector
* Experience of working within a team as well as autonomously
* Teaching or educational experience
Skills
* Understand the scope of the role of the Mask Fit Tester & RPE Co-ordinator in the context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team
