Description

The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) undertakes a world-class programme of scientific research in the Polar regions and elsewhere in the world; and sustains an active and influential UK presence in Antarctica, and plays a leadership role in Antarctic affairs.
The BAS IT group is the digital backbone supporting science discovery and operations across BAS Antarctic research stations and ship. Empowering groundbreaking research, they seamlessly connect remote polar stations to the world. This includes managing secure networks, scientific computing, server infrastructure and business-critical systems to support corporate functions and deliver services to around 750 people.
We are looking for a Head of Information Technology (IT) to provide leadership, strategic vision and management of this team. To be successful in this post, you will need to demonstrate your experience of delivering information technology systems and infrastructure, and have proven leadership and management experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are vital to communicate fluently and persuasively to a range of staff and stakeholders. Flexibility is a must, as we work in changeable environments and always want to keep innovating, to be the best at what we do.
