BMW Group Plant Hams Hall is a modern, state-of-the-art engine manufacturing facility, located just outside Birmingham, UK. Producing the latest generation of three and four cylinder petrol engines, and precision machining key engine components, the plant has recently celebrated 20 years of successful production. Operating seven days a week, with more than one engine rolling off the line per minute, the plant plays a key role in BMW Group’s global production network, supplying engines for BMW and MINI, including some of the latest plug-in hybrid vehicles.
BMW Plant Hams Hall – Mechanical Systems and Project Engineer – 13 Month Placement (July 2025)
We are currently seeking a motivated and driven individual to take up our exciting opportunity and work between both our Product Audit & Performance Test department, on a 13 month placement commencing July 2025. Product Audit and Performance Test has the responsibility of ensuring that all Powertrain units built at Hams Hall conform to the Engineering Design specifications and legal requirements.
What awaits you?
* Ensuring all facilities and processes are in place to support new engine variants and technical upgrades to new model introduction. Activities will include design specifications, purchasing, installation and commissioning activities.
* Using support systems for data management and analysis, including programming and the creation of visualisation software.
* Facility management. Update and upgrade facilities for process improvement activities.
* Supporting Engineer with project management activities including leading project review meetings and managing the expedition of tasks.
* Preparing process documentation.
* Verifying Test and measurement data by being able to discern measurement results and plan next steps.
* Supporting and sometimes leading technical investigations to support area goals and come up with resolutions for problems.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Studying towards a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related discipline (eg. Mechanical, Production, Mechatronics) and on track to achieve a 2:2 or above.
* Industrial experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
* Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks.
* A systematic approach to problem solving.
* Highly self-motivated with the ability to work diligently as an individual, with minimum supervision, or as part of a team.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
