We are looking for a Medical secretary who will be responsible for supporting the clinical team in delivering high quality patient care and ensuring a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service is provided to the medical staff and their teams. The post holder will report to the Specialty Co-ordinator and ensure the CQUIN typing target and validation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
About the Department
We have one vacancy within the department of the Vascular, Business Unit. This position is for 22.5 hours per week. You will be working alongside 1 Specialty Co-ordinator, 4 other medical secretaries and supporting the Consultants and their teams. There are also 2 Medical Secretarial Assistants and 1 Elective Access Clerk. The Department is always busy with something to do.
Job Responsibilities
Enthusiasm is more important than experience but you need to have GCSE English grade C or equivalent as well as typing and word processing skills. You should be a competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel. A flexible approach to work is required and an ability to get on with others in a team-based environment. You will need to use your initiative and prioritise work to achieve tight deadlines. Recent experience of the NHS and knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage.

* Recent Secretarial experience
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Knowledge of PAS
* Knowledge of 18 week RTT pathway
Qualifications
* Typing, Audio and Word/Text Processing skills to RSA III or equivalent knowledge acquired through further experience
* GCSE English Language Grade C or equivalent
* Medical secretary qualifications
* Shorthand minimum 90 wpm
* 4 GCSE Grade C or equivalent NVQ III or equivalent
* AMSPAR - Medical Terminology Certificate
* Stage 1 - Management Development or equivalent
* D32/33 Assessor Award or equivalent
Skills
* Ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
* Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload to achieve deadlines
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to communicate and work in a team
* Competent Microsoft Word User
