PERSONAL ASSISTANT FOR 65 YEAR OLD FEMALE
***up to £13.00 per hour ***
Direct payments equating to 7 hours per week (or 28 hours every four weeks) to be used flexible over the month.
During times of pain (caused by unpredictable flare ups of gout and osteoarthritis) she will need support in the mornings with her personal care. Depending on her level of pain, this care may need to be carried out on the bed, or she may feel able to walk to the bathroom. Ideally she would like to have support twice a week to have a shower.
The Individual will also require support to change her continence products and dispose of them in the purple bags. She is often incontinent of urine, and as such will need support with changing and laundering her bedding. The individual will need support every week to put out the bins.
She will need support with her nutrition. Her food choices can often impact the effectiveness of her medication. A PA should discuss this with the family for full details. She would prefer that a snack is prepared during a morning call for her to have at lunchtime. A PA should ask if support is needed to wash any dishes used in the preparation of meals (her husband will often prefer to do the dishes).
